Our Strategy

The Center for Engineering Action serves as a focal point for students, faculty and community partners. Our goal is to lower the barriers for all who want to be involved. We do this through:

  • Supporting student organizations that focus on working with the vulnerable and underserved.

  • Integrating service- and humanitarian-oriented experiential learning into the Case Western Reserve engineering curriculum.

  • Cultivating and maintaining relationships with partnering communities, organizations, and academic institutions.

  • Communicating to the Case Western Reserve community, and the public in general, the value and purpose of this work.

  • Promoting available opportunities so all interested students can take advantage of them.

  • Seeking funding opportunities.

  • Advancing the scholarship of service-learning from both technical and pedagogical points of view.

  • Building capacity in partner communities and institutions by collaboration and training.
