  • Who are you interning with?

Northrop Grumman Corporation

  • Explain the details of your internship.

Systems Engineering Intern in the Space Systems Division

  • How did you find this opportunity?

Company website

  • What has your experience been so far?

The experience I have is quite unique, as I am interning for a Systems Engineering Functional Manager. I am able to work on tasks that span an entire mission or program. I am consistently in contact with Engineering leads from each specialization, coordinating and communicating information. I also will be overhauling existing floor test plans to improve process efficiency. I spend a lot of my time meeting with people in different roles to get a better sense of the company and industry. It's an exciting time, and I often find myself very busy spending time with the other interns.

  • What are you most looking forward to?

This will be my first experience truly working on Aerospace projects, something I've been aspiring towards for many years now. I'm interested to see if it is what I expect it to be.

  • What's your best advice for students who might be looking for a similar opportunity?

Quantity beats quality when searching for internships. Do not limit yourself to big named companies or a super specialized role. Any sort of company or engineering role is a great place to start, and a great stepping stone to whatever end goal you may have.
