Each semester, the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering (EMAE) recognizes outstanding graduate students through the CAA Fellowship in acknowledgment of their significant research contributions to their respective fields.
Eligibility and Selection Criteria
To be eligible for consideration, students must meet the following criteria:
- Research Excellence: Students must have published at least one first-author research article in a flagship, peer-reviewed journal in their respective field, directly related to their Ph.D. research. Publications in highly selective, top-tier conferences in artificial intelligence (AI) and robotics may also qualify, although only a limited number of internationally recognized conferences will be considered.
- Publication Recency: The qualifying publication must have been published within the past 12 months at the time of nomination.
- No Duplicate Recognition: A publication previously used to receive a CAA Fellowship cannot be submitted again for consideration in subsequent semesters.
- Eligibility for Previous Recipients: Previous CAA Fellowship recipients are welcome to self-nominate again if they have published a new qualifying first-author paper. However, priority will be given to eligible students who have not previously received the fellowship.
Meeting the minimum eligibility criteria does not guarantee selection. Fellowship recipients will be selected based on the quality and significance of their research contributions, with consideration given to recognizing a broad range of outstanding graduate students.
