Develops new electrochemical processes for applications including nano-material fabrication, energy storage, electrometallurgy and sensors
Steel is one of the world's most important and influential materials and our research group is aiming to decarbonize its production as much as possible!
The U.S. Department of Energy has announced a 4-year, $19 million dollar investment into the Center for Steel Electrification by Electrosynthesis (C-STEEL). Our lab is working closely with them through Argonne National Laboratory to develop an electrochemical steel production process that could supplant current production and reduce greenhouse gas emissions by up to 85%.
