CWRU ASCE Student Chapter Executive Members Attend ASCE's Workshop for Student Chapter Leaders in Kansas City, MO
Every year, as part of the Multi-Region Leadership Conferences (MRLC), ASCE hosts a series of Workshops for Student Chapter Leaders (WSCL), which are leadership and professional development conferences for students who hold leadership roles within their ASCE Student Chapters. This year, students John Yang, Secretary of CWRU ASCE, and Lillie Alsheikhtaha, Vice President of CWRU ASCE, had the opportunity to attend the WSCL in Kansas City in January 2024.
During the conference, John and Lillie had the chance to meet other student leaders from ASCE student chapters throughout ASCE Regions 3, 6, and 7, which encompass states throughout the Midwest, Southwest, and Rocky Mountains. They were able to share ideas, strategies, and advice on utilizing leadership to effectively lead an ASCE student chapter. They also had the opportunity to workshop their personal leadership skills in the context of ASCE. Finally, the conference provided a valuable opportunity for networking with other professional engineers and ASCE younger members, and provided a preview of the benefits of being an ASCE member after graduation.
