Structural Engineering

Advanced study and research in structural engineering is looking at the ground up for construction materials and structural systems.  Faculty and student s at the Case Western Reserve Department of Civil Engineering examine, analyze and design the new structures and materials to resist or support loads.  In the newly constructed and state-of-the-art Richard and Opal Vanderhoof Research and Education Infrastructure Facility they are building the future for better  materials for earthquake proof bridges, new designs foundations for off-shore wind turbines, and stronger configurations for underwater pipelines  for any climate or temperature.
