Prof. Heo Co-lead ASCE SEI Multihazard Mitigation Committee to Win the SEI Future Fund

The Structural Engineering Institute (SEI)’s Multihazard Mitigation (MHM) Committee, which Dr. YeongAe Heo, Assistant Professor in Civil Engineering has served as the Vice Chair, of the American Society of Civil Engineers (ASCE) wins the 2020 SEI Future Fund. For the past few years, the SEI MHM Committee has made great contributions to disaster resilience studies of structures subjected to multiple natural and man-made hazards. With this support, the SEI MHM Committee will initiate a special project to bridge the gap between research and practice for structural engineers to implement the state-of-the-art research in multi-hazard structural design into their structural design, retrofit, and maintenance projects. This project will provide a set of guidelines to identify when multihazard considerations are necessary and to support structural engineering decisions for a set of common multihazard conditions.
