Using the Chemical Engineering Instrumentation Core (CHiC)

The Chemical Engineering Instrumentation Core (ChiC) is a cost center, a centralized shared research resource that provides access to instruments, technologies and services, based at the Case School of Engineering. It is in the Bingham Building basement on the main CWRU quad. Its services are available both to the internal CWRU community and to external organizations. 
To use our facility or request services, you will need an iLab account. Instructions for obtaining an iLab account are given below. The university’s iLab system allows for online reservation of instruments, as well as the process of requesting services or technical expertise. 

Scheduling

All scheduling is done through the Agilent iLab Portal. Instructions for creating a CWRU user account are provided below. Requests for training and consultation are done through iLab.

Creating an Account

  • Midway down the list is the link for “New Internal Customer Registration”
  • Register with your CWRU ID and password. 
  • Your PI and department admin will receive an email asking to confirm that you are in their lab and to assign a SpeedType for lab time.

External Users - External users need to fill out the “New External Customer Registration” form linked on the iLab Portal Page.

Rates

Internal Rate for using the Chemical Engineering Instrumentation Core are:
Training (Internal): $55.00/hour
Training (External): $88.00/hour
Self-Use (Internal): $20.00/hour
Self-Use (External): $53.00/hour
