Remediation and Particle Research Laboratory

This laboratory is designed to support physical research on the applied science and design of remediation engineering and to support research on particle-particle interactions in solution and in packed bed systems. The laboratory provides a modeling floor for the assembly of laboratory-scale flow reactors and remediation schemes, and provides immediate access to instrumentation and computational facilities for data analysis.

This laboratory is now equipped with a computer-driven Coulter LS-230 laser diffraction particle size analyzer, capable of measuring particle sizes from 0.04 mm to 2000 mm in a single scan with high resolution provided by 132 size channels. In addition, a Coulter SA-3100+ resides in this laboratory, capable of measuring surface area by BET N2 adsorption, and measuring pore size distributions down to approximately 3 nm.
