Remediation and Particle Research Laboratory

This laboratory is designed to support physical research on the applied science and design of remediation engineering and to support research on particle-particle interactions in solution and in packed bed systems. The laboratory provides a modeling floor for the assembly of laboratory scale flow reactors and remediation schemes, and provides immediate access to instrumentation and computational facilities for data analysis. This laboratory is now equipped with a computer driven Coulter LS-230 laser diffraction particle size analyzer, capable of measuring particle sizes from 0.04 mm to 2000 mm in a single scan with high resolution provided by 132 size channels. In addition, a Coulter SA-3100+ resides in this laboratory, capable of measuring surface area by BET N2 adsorption, and measuring pore size distributions down to approximately 3 nm.
