Balsa Wood Bridge Competition
Area high school students convene in CWRU's old gymnasium to test their balsa wood bridge creations.
This year, the egg drop was held on December 5 at HillCrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights. Students are responsible for helping check the kids in, judging their entries, and then we drop the egg and containers off the fourth floor atrium in the hospital. This event is quickly becoming their favorite event, and it's also getting bigger every year.
The Career Fair is an event held every spring, this year it will be in mid-February. Civil Engineering students from Case, Cleveland State, and Akron University all gather in CWRU's Thwing Ballroom to showcase their skills in front of several potential employers looking for both full time employees and interns.
Spring Pizza Party
Dr. and Mrs. Gasparini open their home up to the department as the spring semester comes to a close each year. The Gasparini's cook pizza in their home built, portable, masonry pizza oven. The event is always a hit as students get to take a break from their hectic class schedule and eat some good home cooked food.
Science Fair Judging
Every year, the fair is judged by professionals in fields related to the sciences. Members of our student chapter of ASCE, along with professional members, also volunteer their time to be judges.
