High Performance Thermoset Polyurethanes

The Department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering of Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, Ohio) announces the availability of a postdoctoral research opening in the area of high performance polyurethane systems. This position is open to individuals who hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, etc.) and is expected to be initially a 12-month appointment.

Candidates who have an established research record in areas relevant to mixing and dispersion of fillers in polymers are encouraged to apply. The project will entail characterization of the properties of the filler-polymer interface and methods to alter these properties. Chemo-rheology of highly filled polyurethane systems will be used to explore ways to affect reaction kinetics for tailoring system properties. We seek a candidate with effective written and oral communication skills, high levels of motivation, initiative and energy coupled with ability to work independently as well as in a team. Preference will be given to applicants who completed their PhD within the past 5 years. This position is open until filled.

This position is open to individuals who hold a Ph.D. in a relevant field (e.g, Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science, etc.) and is expected to be initially a 12-month appointment.

Candidates who have an established research record in areas relevant to nanocomposites and morphological characterization of thermoplastic elastomers are encouraged to apply. The project will entail the development of innovative, next generation nanocomposities with properties enhanced by nanofillers and through the application of various processing strategies. Research will also explore the potential use of crosslink points in either the soft or the hard domains of thermoplastic polyurethanes to affect system morphology and properties. The Department of Macromolecular Science and Engineering of Case Western Reserve University (Cleveland, Ohio) announces the availability of a PhD opening in the Spring 2022 in the area of high performance polyurethane systems. Applications are encouraged from students with an undergraduate degree in a relevant field i.e. Chemical Engineering, Polymer Science and Engineering, Chemistry, Materials Science.

Research will entail the development of innovative, next generation nanocomposites with properties enhanced by nanofillers and through the application of various processing strategies. Research will also explore the potential use of crosslink points in either the soft or the hard domains of thermoplastic polyurethanes to affect system morphology and properties. Chemo-rheology of filled polyurethane systems will be used to explore ways to affect reaction kinetics for tailoring highly filled thermoset properties.
