CDS Department works with UG Admissions to host Women in STEM Webinar

On April 23, faculty, students, and staff hosted a webinar geared towards prospective woman-identifying students interested in technology fields. Panelists included Harold Connamacher, CDS Associate Professor; Mia Gorczcya, Class of 2020 BA student; Evren Gurkan-Cavusoglu, ECSE Associate Professor and Faculty Director of the Women in Tech Initiative; Shelley Murphy, Class of 2014 alumna; Kayla Pinto, Assistant Director of Student Advancement; and Anna Sedlackova, Class of 2020 BS/MS student.

Moderated by Liana Carroll and Tom Fanning, representatives of Undergraduate Admissions, the webinar boasted 100 attendees and engaged in meaningful conversation about the opportunities available for woman-identifying students in technology fields at CWRU.

A collaborative effort between Undergraduate Admissions, the Office for Student Advancement, the Women in Tech Initiative, and the Computer and Data Sciences department, Women in STEM: Preparing for a career in computer and data science, will now be a semi-annual web-based presentation for any student, parent, or high school representative interested in learning more about the woman-identifying student experience in the Computer and Data Sciences department at CWRU.
