CS Faculty Dr. Ray and Staff Heather Smith attend NCWIT Summit for Women in Technology

Computer Science Professor Soumya Ray and EECS Student Affairs Coordinator Heather Smith attended the National Center for Women in Technology Summit May 14-16, 2019. After traveling to Nashville, Tennessee, Dr. Ray and Ms. Smith had the opportunity to network and exchange ideas about increasing diversity in computing fields with dozens of other universities across the United States and Canada.

CWRU's Computer Science department is a client of NCWIT's Extension Services--a program geared toward working one-on-one with universities to create and implement sustainable plans to foster a culture of inclusion and support historically underrepresented students in computing fields. A subset of the NCWIT Academic Alliance, Extension Services has been collaborating with CWRU's Computer Science department to determine the most effective and feasible ways to increase participation of underrepresented groups in the major.
