Case Amateur Radio Club on the Dais

Boxboro 2017 CARI Forum a Success

The Amateur Radio Club at Yale, W1YU, sponsored the second annual New England Collegiate Amateur Radio Initiative Forum at the ARRL hamfest this past weekend and the program was a great success. This year’s forum opened with keynote remarks by ARRL CEO Tom Gallagher, NY2RF, and continued with four outstanding presentations by guest institutions.

The final guest presentation came from Case Western Reserve University by faculty advisor Dr. David Kazdan, AD8Y, and student club treasurer Nathaniel Vishner, KB1QHX and student club vice president & secretary Rachel Boedicker, AC8XY.  David’s wife, Laura Gooch, N8NFE accompanied David, Nathaniel and Rachel on the trip to Boxboro.  Amateur radio at Case is intertwined in the EE curriculum at Case and Dr. Kazdan spoke about the role of the faculty advisor in the collegiate club and to the importance of working collaboratively with the engineering faculty to promote and grow your collegiate club.  (On a side note, congrats to David who won Saturday night banquet door prize, an Elecraft KX2 transceiver - WTG!)
