Mario Garcia-Sanz Appointed Program Director of ARPA-E

Mario Garcia-Sanz, professor of electrical engineering and computer science, has been selected for a two-year stint as a program director at the Department of Energy’s Advanced Research Projects Agency-Energy (ARPA-E).

During his appointment at ARPA-E, Garcia-Sanz will work on projects related to advanced control engineering; wind energy systems; renewable and conventional power generation; electrical distribution systems; smart grid technologies; and water treatment plants and networks.

Case Western Reserve, Cleveland State and Mercyhurst Universities Form Cyber Research and Training Alliance

From the Cleveland.com Metro news - Case Western Reserve, Cleveland State and Mercyhurst universities have formed the North Coast Cyber Research and Training Alliance to develop cybersecurity education, research and training programs in western Pennsylvania and Northeast Ohio.

Zadina Named to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® Division III Women’s Soccer Team

Elle Zadina, Computer Science student, was named a second team Academic All-American for women's soccer by the College Sports Information Directors of America based on her outstanding achievements both on the pitch and in the classroom over her career as a Spartan.

Mohammad Komki, Former PhD Student Recieves Tenure Track Position

Congratulations to Mohammad Komki, a former student who worked under Professor Malakooti in Systems and Control Engineering, received his PhD in January 2018.  Mohammad has accepted the position of tenure track assistant professor at Texas A & M, College of Commerce in the Management School starting Spring 2018.
