Two engineering students receive honor society scholarship

Since 1998, Tau Beta Pi Honor Society has granted over 4,000 scholarships to engineering students across the country. This year, two Case School of Engineering students received the honor. From a pool of over 1,300 applications, only 253 students were chosen—among them were biomedical engineering students Michael Kong and Dhruv Shah.

The scholarships are awarded based on competitive criteria focused on scholarship, campus leadership and service, as well as a promise of future contributions to the engineering profession.

“I’m really excited about this scholarship, and I’m honored to be recognized at the national level,” Kong shared. “Of course, I am also grateful for the financial support for my final year of undergrad.”

As a fourth-year biomedical engineering and computer science double major, Kong is expected to graduate this fall with plans to pursue medical school.

“In the future, I hope to become a leading academic clinician, leveraging my interdisciplinary interests in engineering and medicine to advance and implement efficient yet ethical clinical AI,” he shared.

Kong said that joining Tau Beta Pi introduced him to many opportunities, “both within and beyond campus walls.”
