One sentence description describing what the Theta Tau Professional Engineering Fraternity does.
Theta Tau gathers students from all different engineering disciplines to help one another navigate their undergraduate degrees and future careers by holding chapters geared towards what people need such as career workshops or study sessions.
What are some of the most notable events of your year?
Every semester, one chapter from every region of Theta Tau hosts the Regional Conference. This semester was our chapter's turn. We brought in keynote speakers and held breakout sessions about topics including different chapters' experiences and DEI workshops. Since the host school rotates, when we are not hosting, we travel to attend regionals. Another big event that we do is Habitat for Humanity's door decorating event, which commonly happens around Halloween.
Three words that describe your organization.
Driven, Lively, Helpful
What's your favorite part about being a member?
My favorite part about being a member is that I can connect with so many different people I wouldn't normally. I love that I can meet people from different grades and that everyone has such a wide range of interests.
What do you think is the main reason people join your organization?
Most people join for the professional development opportunities, including resume advising/building or networking events.
How can students get involved?
Since we are a fraternity, rush happens at the beginning of every semester. We will hold rush events for students who are interested, so they can gain more information about Theta Tau. Once students decide to rush, they will need to do an interview. After the interview, if they get a bid, they go through a potential new member period before they are finally initiated at the end of the semester.
