Join us for NSF Industry University Cooperative Research Center for Industrial Energy Efficiency Planning Meeting

Manufacturing

Case Western Reserve University will host a planning meeting for a National Science Foundation Industry University Cooperative Research Center grant for Industrial Energy Efficiency May 15-16 at the Tinkham Veale University Center on campus.

The event will bring together a group of industrial executives, program directors and evaluators from the NSF, and faculty members from both Case Western Reserve and Purdue University to meet and discuss the needs and capabilities of research related to energy efficiency. Registration is open until May 1. Register now.

The effort is being led by Chris Yuan, professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Case Western Reserve, who received a planning grant from the NSF to support the initiative.

According to the U.S. Department of Energy, about 64.4 percent of the energy currently consumed is wasted. Yuan and his collaborators hope to establish an Industry-University Cooperative Research Center (IUCRC) dedicated to advancing the knowledge and techniques needed to improve energy efficiency to enhance the competitiveness of U.S. manufacturing in the global economy and to mitigate the carbon emissions from the U.S. industrial sector.
