What if you could protect a home from wildfire by simply covering it up? According to recently published research from Fumiaki Takahashi, a professor in the Department of Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering, it’s entirely possible. Takahashi’s research, which was recently published by Frontiers in Mechanical Engineering, and featured in a Reuters article, indicates that wrapping a home in a fire blanket not only keeps flames from getting to the structure but also helps to reflect the heat.
