CWRU leads national effort to reverse effects of arthritis using 'live' joint replacements

Ozan Akkus, the Kent Hale Smith Professor of Engineering and a professor of mechanical and aerospace engineering at Case School of Engineering, explained the newly funded research he’s leading with a team to grow replacement joints using patient cells to treat osteoarthritis, a condition where joint tissues break down over time, leading to pain and restricted mobility.
