Graduate Student Assistant & Postdoctoral Research Fellow positions

Professor Heo's research group is looking for outstanding candidates for Graduate Student Research Assistants and Postdoctoral Scholors. Highly motivated individuals eligible for these positions are encouraged to submit the application materials according to the following instructions:

NOTE: Applicants should be eligible to work in energy nuclear sectors in the US. Graduate Student Research Assistantship

  • Qualifications
    • Completion of the M.S. degree in Civil/Structural Engineering
    • Knowledge of Engineering Mechanics, Structural Design and Analysis, Structural Dynamics, Engineering Probability
    • Knowledge of simulations using OpenSees / LS-DYNA or any equivalent structural simulation tools
    • Knowledge of computer programming using MATLAB / C / C++ / R / Python or any equivalent computer programming languages
    • Applicants should satisfy all requirements to apply for the Ph.D. program of School of Graduate Studies at Case Western Reserve University & the eligibility requirements (refer to the above NOTE).
  • How to apply

Postdoctoral Research Fellowship

  • Qualifications
    • Productive technical writing skills for weekly or monthly progress reports and technical papers. The main duty for this position is to publish journal papers (minimum of 2 journal papers are mandatory) in addition to conference proceedings, etc.
    • Profound knowledge of structural engineering, earthquake/wind engineering, probabilistic seismic (or any other natural) hazards and structural fragility analysis
    • Experience with/background in nonlinear dynamic finite element structural analysis using LS-DYNA, machine learning methods, 
    • Experience/background in with parallel programming 
    • Knowledge of data analysis and programming using MATLAB, Python, R, or C / C++
    • Knowledge of various operating systems, e.g., Linux, MAC and Windows
