Past, Present, Future

Each year, the Case Engineering Council (CEC) coordinates CWRU’s Engineers Week (E-Week) to celebrate and raise public understanding and appreciation of engineers’ contributions to society. Students are able to participate in friendly competition, social events, seminars with excellent speakers, and an E-Week Reception.

Introduce a Girl to Engineering

Women in Science and Engineering Roundtable (WISER) presents its fifth annual 'Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IAGTE)' event. IAGTE Day promotes engineering as a strong career option for girls. WISER will host 100 middle-school students from E-Prep School, the Intergenerational School, Monticello Middle School and Woodbury Elementary. Students will learn from professional women in the field and participate in hands-on CSE labs activities. 

Engineering Showcase Fair

SWE Luncheon

This year, the theme of the annual SWE Luncheon will be Women in Engineering: Myths and Truths. The keynote speech will be given by CWRU professor Dr. Kathy Buse! In an interactive talk, we will review the most common myths related to women in engineering.  Everyone is welcome to join us in uncovering the real truths about women in engineering using contemporary research and networking with CWRU professors and staff, corporate representatives, and students.

Programming & Gaming Competition

Jolly Scholar at 6 pm - 9 pm

E-Week programming competition and game night at the Jolly Scholar. Bring your laptop to solve computer science problems and win prizes, or come to play various xbox games on the Jolly Scholar's TVs. Free keg for those over 21, and free nacho bar for everyone!

Engineering Challenges Carnival

All pre-K to 12th grade students and families are welcome to see science and engineering demonstrations and challenge your inner engineer with hands-on games and activites. Talk with current CWRU students and learn more about the opportunies of studying engineering. Games, food, and fun provided!

Electrify Your Impact

Our increasing demand for electronics has much more of an impact than we think, both social and environmental! Come learn from representatives from the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, CWRU Office for Sustainability, and local nonprofit organization RET3 about the implications of this impact and what we can do to lessen this impact. Hosted by the Student Sustainability Council, Undergraduate Materials Society, and STAND- Student Anti-Genocide Coalition. Lunch courtesy of Panera Bread. 

Peer Advising Ice Cream Social

Ad Zap! MEM Marketing Competition

February 19th, 2013

Nord 310 at 11 am - 1 pm

A group competition of 3 to 6 people. Teams will be presented with a product on spot. They would be given 1 1/2 minutes to come up with an advertisement, 2 minutes to enact the advertisement, and will have to answer questions from the judges for 30 seconds. Teams that come up with the most interesting and compelling advertisement wins the event!

Career Mentor Series

Are you ready for "the real world"?  Whether you're an upperclassman with a job in hand or are just starting out and trying to figure out what you want to do for your career, come join us on Tuesday, Feb. 19 for the Career Mentor Series.  Four alumni from a diverse range of majors and companies will be present for a Q+A session, ready to answer anything and everything about job finding strategies, networking, what to expect when you're on the job, plus much more.  Now's your time to ask any question on your mind and to be the best prepared candidate or co-worker!

High School Balsa Model Bridge Competition

February 22nd, 2013

Bigham Structures Lab at 9 am - 2 pm

The bridge competition requires high school students to build a bridge using only balsa and wood glue to span a distance of 24 inches. The bridges are tested to destruction and the maximum load is recorded. Prizes are awarded for the best design and for the bridge with the largest strength to weight ratio!

Departmental Decathalon

Come help us wrap up E-Week by representing your department in a fun competition! From three-legged races to hula hoop passes, the Departmental Decathalon will bring students and faculty together as a team to win bragging rights for their department!.
