Dean's Student Advisory Committee

Leading Edge Engineering Education

For more than 130 years, the Case School of Engineering has attracted innovators and has created or led fields of science and engineering, including biomedical engineering, computer science, metallurgy and ceramics, space flight systems, electrochemistry, polymer science, and civil engineering.

Input from the Dean’s Student Advisory Committee helps keep this unique institution at the leading edge of technology and offering relevant programs in a stimulating learning environment. The committee represents all majors and is comprised of officers or members of student professional societies, such as:

  • Case Engineers Council

  • Tau Beta Pi (national engineering honor society)

  • Society of Women Engineers (SWE)

  • National Society of Black Engineers (NSBE)

  • Society of Hispanic Professional Engineers (SHP)

  • American Institute of Astronautics & Aeronautics (AIAA)

  • American Institute of Chemical Engineers (AIChe)

  • American Institute of Civil Engineers (ASCE)

  • American Society of Mechanical Engineering (ASME)

  • Association for Computing Machinery (ACM)

  • Biomedical Engineering Society (BMES)

  • Institute of Electrical & Electronics Engineering (IEEE)

  • Macromolecular Student Organization (MSO)

  • Undergraduate Materials Society (UMS)

Dean Jeffrey L. Duerk meets with the committee each semester to stay abreast of trends and emerging needs in the wide range of engineering disciplines, industries, and students’ backgrounds. This enables the creation of facilities and dynamic, innovative educational programs that position CSE for an even brighter future.
