Bridging Medicine and Engineering
Each year, the Case Engineering Council (CEC) coordinates Case Western Reserve University’s Engineers Week (E-Week) to celebrate and raise public understanding and appreciation of engineers’ contributions to society. Students are able to participate in friendly competition, social events, seminars with excellent speakers, and an E-Week Reception.
DiscoverE, the national organizer of E-Week, is a formal coalition of more than 100 professional societies, major corporations and government agencies, dedicated to ensuring a diverse and well-educated future engineering workforce by increasing understanding of and interest in engineering and technology careers among young students and by promoting pre-college literacy in math and science.
This year, we celebrate the close connection between medicine and engineering and how these two fields are working closer than ever together to help people live healthier lives. Our featured department, biomedical engineering, celebrates 50 years of innovation this year, and we welcome one of the World Health Organization’s top engineers, Adriana Velazquez Berumen, as the keynote speaker of this year’s Engineers Week Reception.
