The DEI committee has been actively engaging in various initiatives to fulfill its mission. Since its inception, the committee has spearheaded an annual department climate survey, which was launched in January 2024. This survey serves as a crucial tool for gathering feedback and insights to continually enhance inclusivity within the department. Additionally, the committee has been instrumental in organizing and facilitating DEI training sessions tailored for graduate students and faculty members, providing valuable opportunities for learning, discussion, and skill development. Furthermore, the committee hosts the annual "Spring into Diversity" potluck event, a vibrant celebration of cultural diversity and unity within the department, fostering connections and fostering a sense of belonging among all members. Through these diverse activities, the DEI committee remains committed to promoting a welcoming and equitable environment where everyone can thrive.
