IIT Gandhinagar, India has installed two roof-top solar PV systems, each 10 kWp, sponsored by NTT Facilities, Japan and Gujarat Energy Development Agency (GEDA), Gandhinagar in 2012. A total of 64 Thin Film modules and 44 multi-crystaline modules are mounted on fixed structure. These PV systems are being used for advancing research and training the students in the field of solar PV.
IITGN has connected these solar PV systems on Underwriter Laboratories' research node for the long term aging study and the other aspects related to the solar PV system. The UL PV research grid is similarly collaborating with Case Western Reserve University (CWRU), USA and the Institute of Nuclear Energy Research (INER), Taiwan. Adding IITGN's PV system provides another climate region, which adds to the spectrum of data collection.
