Engineering student’s company wins kudos at SXSW

Case Western Reserve University student Xyla Foxlin’s startup company Parihug won the reader’s choice poll in Tech.Co’s Startup of the Year pitch competition at SXSW.
The sophomore mechanical and aerospace engineering major has invented a way to send digital hugs via high-tech teddy bears, and she was among 22 other entrepreneurs vying for the Startup of the Year title at the event in Austin this week.
Earlier this year, Foxlin traveled to CES in Las Vegas as part of Case Western Reserve’s 10-booth exhibit in the show’s Eureka Park area and she even presented at an open call with the casting producers of ABC’s Shark Tank
