In 2013 the first think[box] Designer in Residence will be none other than renowned professional designer and head of the Industrial Design department at CIA, Daniel Cuffaro.
Starting Monday, February 11th, 2013, Daniel will hold open office hours in think[box] each Monday from 1-5pm. This is a unique opportunity to get free consultations with an industry-recognized leader in the field of design, see Daniel's full bio below.
The Designer in Residence is a new program to bring a "live in" design professional to think[box], the University's new multi-million dollar invention center. The Designer In Residence will offer free design advice and consulting to students and other think[box] users, as well as help form relationships between technologists and designers in think[box].
A Designer's role is to combine art, science, technology, and psychology to create new products that people can use. Whereas an Engineer or Technologist would typically focus mainly on the technology, the Designer uses a broader perspective to create appealing designs for humans to use and interact with. The world of design encompasses everything that people interact with, from consumer products to presentations and signage, but also designing physical spaces and floor plans, logistics and documentation, and more.
