Event: Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day

Women in Science and Engineering Roundtable (WISER) presents its fifth annual 'Introduce a Girl to Engineering Day (IAGTE)' event. IAGTE Day promotes engineering as a strong career option for girls. WISER will host 100 middle-school students from E-Prep School, the Intergenerational School, Monticello Middle School and Woodbury Elementary. Students will learn from professional women in the field and participate in hands-on CSE labs activities.

This year, the theme of the annual SWE Luncheon will be Women in Engineering: Myths and Truths. The keynote speech will be given by CWRU professor Dr. Kathy Buse! In an interactive talk, we will review the most common myths related to women in engineering. Everyone is welcome to join us in uncovering the real truths about women in engineering using contemporary research and networking with CWRU professors and staff, corporate representatives, and students.

Event: Ad Zap! MEM Marketing Competition

Description:
A group competition of 3 to 6 people. Teams will be presented with a product on spot. They would be given 1 1/2 minutes to come up with an advertisement, 2 minutes to enact the advertisement, and will have to answer questions from the judges for 30 seconds. Teams that come up with the most interesting and compelling advertisement wins the event!

Event: High School Balsa Model Bridge Competition

Description:
The bridge competition requires high school students to build a bridge using only balsa and wood glue to span a distance of 24 inches. The bridges are tested to destruction and the maximum load is recorded. Prizes are awarded for the best design and for the bridge with the largest strength to weight ratio!
